Even with the continued
use of top-of-the-line skincare products, the ravages of time and the
environment take their toll on our delicate skin—especially on the face, neck,
decollate and on the backs of hands. Legs and arms are also treated.
The Lumenis 1™ is a patented FDA-approved laser proven to be almost three times
as effective as typical IPL lasers in providing photo-rejuvenation to the outer
layers of the skin.
Targeting active cells including acne, sebaceous glands, pre-cancer cells and
sebaceous hyperplasia (small, benign bumps), it also stimulates the body’s
production of collagen, which promotes firmer, younger-looking skin.
ALA (aminolevulinic acid HcL) may be applied to areas to be treated before the
laser is applied, resulting in shrinkage of oil glands, killing of bacteria, and
destruction of pre-cancerous cells. It is also extremely effective for the
treatment of severe rosacea.
While the patient relaxes in our treatment room, eyes are covered to shield them
from the laser light transmission. Patty then systematically moves the tip of
the IPL over areas needing treatment, delivering quick pulses of light that feel
no more uncomfortable than the snap of a rubber band. Following laser treatment,
ice, cortisone and sun block are applied to the patient’s skin. Each session
takes approximately half an hour to one hour.
Although there is virtually no real down time, patients will notice dark spots
have turned darker before they flake off within about a week. Red spots will
also darken and fade away within about a week as well. The skin itself,
stimulated to produce new collagen, will feel and look almost immediately more
refreshed.
With each treatment more collagen is produced, and the number of red and brown
spots is reduced until completely eliminated. A series of three sessions are
generally given at one-month intervals.
Maintenance is recommended one to two times a year thereafter.
Prices vary.
